Facebook third-party sharing changes
Hearsay can no longer crawl data related to third-party shares on Facebook. Even though this is not an activity that is widely monitored, the behavior puts the affected accounts in a blocked state and prevents Hearsay from crawling other native activities for the accounts, such as posts, comments, or likes. Affected accounts are ones where the user has created a post and a third-party shared it.
To fix the issue, Hearsay has removed fields related to third-party post sharing from the Facebook crawler and will only return the number of times a post was shared by a third-party. The fix is retroactive in order to correct any reporting errors. You might need to rerun the Post All Data Report from November 9th onward to see corrected data. You also might see a temporary increase in the number of alerts for the affected accounts while we work to retroactively crawl activities that were previously blocked.
This change was due to an API update from Facebook that prevents Hearsay from capturing details about private third-party accounts that are not connected to the platform.
